Tube & Pipe Styles use
· We will use components from JIS Library
· Open Sample File
· Tank.iam
· Models > Tube & Pipe > Tank > Tank.iam
· Save a copy of Tank.iam as TankStyleTest.iam
· Close Tank.iam
· Open TankStyleTest.iam (page 2)
· Tube & Pipe Styles Dialog Box
· Edit Top Level Run
· Click Tube & Pipe Styles tool
· Note: Had to create a dummy new run - Run01 under Tube and Pipe Runs
· Else: Tube & Pipe Style tool was dimmed
· Tube & Pipe Styles Dialog
· Active style is listed under Active Style field
· And highlighted in bold in style browser
· General Tab and Rules Tab have
· Components used in JIS20A (current style)
· Other settings and parameters (page 3)
· Create a Style
· Click New button
· Name field
· FB1
· Category field (optional)
· Flanges and Butt Welds
· If not used FB1 would nest under active folder: Rigid Pipe with Fittings
· Notice
· Category field has drop down arrow for future list (page 4)
· Specifying Components

· Red outline cursor
· Component is required

· Select JIS B 2312 90 Deg Short Elbow Steel
· Click OK
· Right-click Flange row
· Select Browse
· End Treatment menu

· Click Filter button
· Select JIS B 2220 Butt-Welding Type Flange WN - 30K
· Click OK (page 6)
· Specify Options and Parameters
· Select Rules Tab

· .5 (value too high for working model, value used to show gap clearly)
· Check Display Gap option
· Selected (gap will display)
· To avoid clutter - do not use
· Check Use Flanges for Couplings

· Edit Styles
· FB1 is added to styles browser
· Under new category
· Under Rigid Pipe with Fittings
· Select General Tab
· Options are greyed-out
· Not in edit mode any more
· Select FB1 in browser
· Click Edit button
· Now we can change values for diameter
· Keep 90 mm
· Save
· Close
· Save Assembly
· To save new style in assembly (local template) (page 8)
· Apply the Style
· Apply style to existing run
· Right-click Pipe Route 19 (not Pipe Run 19)
· Select Edit
· Standard Toolbar
· Drop down menu
· Lists available styles
· Click FB1
· Click Return tool to return to pipe run level
· Specified style is applied to run (page 10)
· Insert Flange

· Select to place node on longest pipe member
· Click Return tool to return to pipe run level
· Butt-welded flange is inserted in run (page 11)

· Select JIS from Filter menu (the funnel)
· Expand
· Tube & Pipe > Fittings > Valves
· Select Gate Valves node
· Double-click JIS B 2071 Flanged Gate Valve Outside Screw and Yoke - 20K
· Click OK
· Place gate valve on run (do not rotate for now)
· Ignore engagement warning (was none)
· Notice
· Another butt-welded flange gets inserted to connect valve to pipes (page 11)
· Tools and Options
· Click Tube and Pipe Styles tool
· Select some other style
· Right-click
· Options are same as buttons above
· We can
· Make style active
· Copy style
· Copy FB1 to create FB1_Copy(1)
· Select FB1_Copy(1)
· Click Export button
· Export to file name FB1Copy
· Note
· Multiple selections of styles possible
· Exports to single XML file (page 12)
· Options and Tools
· Delete tool
· Delete FB1_Copy(1)
· Multiple selections allowed (with Ctrl or Shift buttons)
· Click Import tool
· Select FB1Copy XML file
· Click Open
· Import Tube & Pipe Styles Dialog
· Previews how style will appear
· An alert icon could appear (if style was not deleted)
· Indicating redundancy
· Filter button
· All imported styles preview
· Only those with issues
· Click OK
· Close Tube & Pipe dialog
· Import dialog confirms import with no issues (page 13)
· Global Template
· File Open tool on Standard toolbar
· Inventor directory > Design Data > Tube & Pipe
· Select default global template
· Piping runs.iam
· Click Open
· Click Tube & Pipe Styles tool
· Click Import
· Select FB1.xml
· Click Open
· Import Tube & Pipe Styles dialog
· Confirms error free import of FB1.xml
· Click OK
· Back to Tube & Pipe Styles dialog
· Click Save (could not, Save was dimmed)
· Click Close
· Style will now be available in global template (page 14)
