·         Design Accelerator Panel

·         Click V-Belts icon (page 2)

 

·         Select belt plane

 

·         Select Belt Mid Plane button

·         Click the large plane in xy plane

·         Note

·         When clicking V-Belts in Design Accelerator panel the Belt Mid Plane button is already selected

·         Select edge or corner of plane to select

·         When selecting work plane grips are displayed

·         Number of grips same as number of pulleys

·         V-Belts Generator dialog opens with last valid settings (page 3)

 

·         Select Belt Type

 

·         V-Belts Generator dialog

·         Click the down arrow to display available V-belts

·         Select V-Belt A ANSI/RMA IP-20 belt

·         In this Autodesk Inventor 2008, V-Belts generator is not connected to Content Center (looks like it is) (page 4)

·         Click down arrow of first pulley Select the Grooved Pulley A,AX ANSI/RMA IP-20

·         Note:

·         When we start V-Belts Generator

·         Two pulleys displayed

·         To add other pulleys

·         Click the Click to add pulley text (page 5)

 

·         Set First Pulley Position

 

·         Pulleys box

·         Click arrow button to display options for geometry placement for the first pulley

·         Select Fixed position by selected geometry option

·         Pulley preview activates

·         Click selection button (with arrow)

·         Click cylindrical face to automatically position first pulley

·         Select Second Pulley Type

 

·         Click down arrow next to (...) button

·         Select Grooved Pulley A,AX ANSI/RMA IP-20 (page 7)

 

·         Set Second Pulley Position

 

·         Pulleys box

·         Click arrow button (or just click button itself) to display options for geometry placement for second pulley

·         Select Direction driven sliding position option

·         Its icon displays in button image

·         Click arrow button (selection button)

·         Select sliding work plane for holder (paralled to horizontal, rotate view to select, near second shaft) (page 8)

 

·         Change Pulley Properties

 

·         Click Edit button of second pulley

·         Groove Pulley Properties dialog box

·         Select Transmission Ratio from Design Guide pull-down list

·         Ratio text box (not Power ratio text box, it wont allow input)

·         Enter 2

·         Click OK or press Enter key (this instruction not in tutorial) (page 9)

 

·         Specify second pulley final position

·         In assembly

·         Drag center grip and place second pulley to the appropriate position

·         Sliding is available along selected sliding work plane

·         Final pulley position is determined by

·         available belt length

·         Note

·         For strength analysis switch to Calculation tab (page 10)

 

·         File Name Settings

 

·         V-Belts Generator

·         Upper-right corner

·         Click File Naming icon

 

·         File Naming dialog box

·         Specify Display name of V-Belts connection components and File name settings (not understood)

 

·         File Naming dialog box

·         Select the Always prompt for file name box to prompt for newly inserted Design Accelerator component's file name and display name every time you create a new component

·         Click OK

·         Wait

·         Inserts V-belts transmission to assembly (page 11)

 

·         Place Constraints

 

·         Switch to Assembly panel bar

·         Click Constraint

·         Wait

·         Place Constraint dialog

·         Constrain second pulley axis to the shaft axis using Mate constraint (page 12)

·         Place Constraint dialog

·         Assembly tab

·         Type: Mate

·         Solution: Mate

·         Click Apply

·         Cancel to close Place Constraint dialog  (page 12)
