·         Click Bearing icon (page 2)

·         Select Shaft Cylindrical Face and Start Plane

 

·         Bearing Generator dialog

·         Click Cylindrical Face icon to select shaft face in assembly

·         Click Start Plane icon (left one of two)

·         Select start plane where bearing will be mated

·         Click Flip option to change orientation of bearing

 

·         Bearing Inside Diameter (shaft diamerer) value is automatically inserted into filter dimension edit fields on right side of Design Tab

 

·         Note

·         We could have first selected bearing type from Content Center. This way we already have shaft inside diameter. (page 3)

 

·         Select Type of Bearing

 

·         Click down arrow in first edit field

·         Select Angular Contact Ball Bearings from drop down list in dialog (no title) that appears from Contact Center

·         Click icon for Angular Contact Ball Bearings (no icon present)

·         Angular Contact Ball Bearings was selected from beginning

 

·         In lower part of Design Tab

·         Clicked Update button first to show titles of bearing family and size

·         However, there is no list

 

·         Note

·         Select Family for bearing selection (?)

·         To narrow selection, select Standard when selecting bearings from Content Center (?)(page 4)

 

·         How to Set Filter Parameters

·         Narrow Bearing Selection

·         The second row of filter dimensions is for range of bearing inside diameters automatically inserted since we started with selections before accessing Content Center) (page 5)

 

·         To narrow selection

·         In first row of filter dimensions edit fields specify range of bearing outside diameters

·         In third row specify range of bearing width

 

·         We can enter both filter values

·         They can be identical

 

·         How to Update Bearing List

·         Update button is activated when

·         We change filter values

·         We change type of bearing

·         Click button to update list to match new criteria (page 6)

 

·         Select Bearing

 

·         Only one bearing displayed in this tutorial

·         Click SKF ALS 15

·         Click row to select bearing

·         OK button is now activated

·         Click OK (page 7)

 

·         Perform Calculation

 

·         Click Calculation Tab

·         Calculation is for strength check

·         Type of Calculation

·         Check Calculation

·         Radial Load: 100 lbforce

·         Click Calculate

·         Results displayed on right side of Calculation tab

·         Note: Values of bearing selected in Design tab are inserted automatically into edit fields (page 8)

 

·         Insert First Bearing

·         Click OK to insert first bearing

·         Next: Insert a second bearing (page 9)

 

·         Click Bearing icon

·         Set filter to find appropriate bearing

·         Click arrow in second row (From field)

·         Click Measure

·         Click shaft element (last one) to measure inside diameter of bearing

·         From field of second row should now be 2"

·         Enter 2" in To field (page 10)

 

·         Select Type of Bearing

 

·         Click down arrow in first edit field

·         Click icon for Angular Contact Ball Bearings Category

·         Bearings that match criteria are listed in box below

·         Click first one (ALS 16)

·         Selection is displayed in field above selection list (page 11)

 

·         Place and Insert Second Bearing

 

·         Click Cylindrical Face icon

·         Select shaft face in assembly

 

·         Click Start Plane icon

·         Select plane in shaft where bearing will mate

 

·         Click Flip option to change orientation of bearing

·         Click OK (page 12)
