·         Use the Design Accelerator Bolted Connection generator to create and edit bolted connections

 

·         Open Bolted_connection.iam

·         Click Bolted Connection tool on Assembly toolbar or panel

·         Type: Through All

·         Placement drop down menu: Concentric

·         Select Start Plane button (page 2)

 

·         Place Holes

·         Select start plane

·         Select circular edge (page 3)

·         Select Termination button in Bolted Connection dialog

·         Select termination plane

·         Holes preview

 

·         Select 6 mm diameter in drop down Diameter list in dialog (page 4)

 

·         In Click to add a fastener, hole thumbnails and descriptions are displayed

·         There are two holes (page 5)

 

·         Add Fasteners

·         Click text: Click to add a fastener

·         Wait

·         Available bolts display in separate dialog without title

·         Select ISO in Standard drop down

·         Select ISO 4016 with one click

·         Length selected automatically

·         Only washers presented for selection (page 6)

 

·         Click text: Click to add a fastener

·         Select ISO 7092 (page 7)

·         Click text: Click to add a fastener below lower hole thumbnail and select ISO 7092

·         Select ISO 4032

·         Fastener Stack is complete

·         Click Apply

·         Note:

·         Clicked OK in File Naming dialog

·         Cancelled Bolted Connection Generator dialot still present after Apply (page 8)

 

·         Use Existing Hole

·         Add another bolted connection using an existing hole

·         Select Blind Connection Type button

·         Placement drop down: By Hole

·         Select start plane

·         Select countersunk hole (page 9)

 

·         Select start plane for blind hole - top face of spindle component

·         Hole previews (page 10)

 

·         Click text: Click to add a fastener

·         Select ISO 10462

·         Click OK (page 11)

 

·         Edit Bolted Connection

·         Double-click Spindle component in browser or graphics

·         Notice:

·         Update icon present next to Bolted Connection:1

·         Bolt is not long enough and requires update (page 12)

 

·         In browser right-click Bolted Connection:1

·         Select Edit using Design Accelerator (was dimmed as bolt is long enough)

 

·         Corrected size previews, long enough bolted components, nut, and washers

·         Click OK (page 13)

 

·         Right-click cap screw ISO 10462 in graphics window

·         Select Edit using Design Accelerator

·         Drag lower grip handle to change length of cap screw

·         The next longer size is displayed 20 mm

·         Also description for it M6 X 20 displayed as we resize (page 14)

 

·         Drag other grip to increase depth of hole

·         Click OK (page 15)

 

·         Continuing Edit Bolted Connection here

·         Precise Definition of Hole Depth

·         Right-click cap screw ISO 10462 in graphics window

·         Select Edit using Design Accelerator

·         Select lower hole thumbnail

·         Click access button ...

·         Hole Depth dialog

·         Hole Depth: 16 mm (need shorter)

·         Thread Depth: 14 mm (need shorter) (page 16)

 

·         Continuing Edit Bolted Connection here

·         Reverse bolted direction

·         Right-click Bolted Connection:1

·         Select Edit Using Design Accelerator

 

·         Click Start Plane button

·         Select new start plane (spindle lower face)

·         Click Circular Edge button (spindle lower face)

·         Select circular edge (page 17)

 

·         Select Termination button

·         Select termination plate

·         Click OK

·         Bolt direction is reversed (page 18)

 

 

·         Change Bolted Connection Configuration

·         Notice: Direction indicator is upward

·         However: Direction in hardware stack in dialog is still bolt on top followed by washer, washer, nut (page 19) (direction arrow not seen, smaller arrow with two heads present at top) (page 19)

 

·         Select thumbnail for nut and click Delete button

·         Delete both washers

·         Select upper thumbnail

·         Click Menu button or down arrow

·         Select ISO-Hex Socket Head Cap Screw

·         Select ISO 4762 (page 20)

 

·         Drag grip for cap screw to shorten to 20 mm (16 mm for present plate thicknesses) Click OK (page 21)
